How can schools in Romania take better decisions: AVE is launching the EduMetrix platform

Bucharest, February 11. The Association for Values in Education (AVE) is launching EduMetrix, an institutional assessment 360-degree digital platform for the school and the community around it. The platform, developed by AVE with assistance from Apa Nova, a Veolia company, provides an X-ray of the school’s operation, useful for development plans, annual reports, managerial projects and applications for funding.

EduMetrix is aimed at all schools in Romania, from both urban and rural areas. During the pilot phase of the platform, set to run until March 2027, its use is free for the first 200 schools registered, with funding provided by AVE and Apa Nova. The school’s registration on the platform shall be done by the headmaster, and the main requirement will be the school’s commitment to the completion of the assessment process. Throughout this entire process, the headmaster is supported by a team of assessing teachers. At the end of the process, an AI-assisted 360-degree institutional assessment report is generated, with the aim of structuring, correlating and aggregating the data collected.

The data in the report provides a 360-degree systemic image of the school, which helps identify risks and areas for improvement, stimulating, as part of the assessment process, a performance-driven collaborative culture.

“For AVE, the starting point of the EduMetrix platform is the actual everyday reality of the schools in Romania. Headmasters and teachers require a clear and coherent framework where they are able to identify both the strengths and the areas for improvement, to have a bird’s eye view over their own school and have access to relevant assessment and reporting resources. EduMetrix launches, in its 1.0 version, with a set of essential functionalities and, based on user feedback and the evolution of the school’s needs, it will be adapted on a continuous basis. AVE will play the part of a facilitator throughout the use of the platform, ensuring the onboarding, technical and methodological support upon request, and that of an expert in validating reports with a view to refining the AI model employed”

“We are delighted to be alongside AVE in a project intended for schools in Romania. Access to quality education is one of the fundamental pillars we support and in which we have constantly invested for years – both in upskilling the future generations of specialists and in supporting schools that aim to reach high performance levels, to embrace the new technologies in their activity and to set modern teaching and learning standards within the communities they are part of. We believe in solid partnerships between the public, the private and the non-government sectors, that are able to support the development of the education system, since we need well-prepared children capable to carry on what we have built so far. ”
