AVE and PENNY support students in developing key skills for their future

Bucharest, December 17, 2024. AVE (The Association for Values in Education) and PENNY provide support to students whose schools are part of the Programme for the Transformation of Schools in Romania in developing key skills required to succeed in life. Of the 8 key skills identified by the European Union Council, the program coordinated by AVE aims to achieve visible and measurable progress in regard to literacy, digital and social-emotional skills.

AVE’s objective, in each school joining the programme, is for the pupils, at the end of the three programme years, to be able to write, to read and to understand what they have read, to enhance their digital skills level and to develop their social-emotional skills. Progress measurement is done by assessing these skills when joining the programme, throughout it and upon its completion. Furthermore, the teachers’ and the headmasters’ development and learning needs are assessed and bolstered via training and business mentorship programmes and a suite of practice-oriented mechanisms and tools ready to apply in class.

PENNY has supported this year the implementation of the Programme for the Transformation of Schools in Romania with the amount of 310,000 Euro, thus continuing the collaboration begun in 2023. Last year, PENNY supported financially and through direct involvement the implementation of the Leadership and Educational Management Academy programme. Moreover, PENNY representatives were part of the 2023 Headmasters of the Year Awards Gala judging process.

“In a society where the role of education is vital, what AVE has set about pursuing via the Programme for the Transformation of Schools is all the more important. We need children who can leave school with a solid foundation, so that they should become personally and professionally fulfilled, lead a healthy and sustainable life, engage civically and be socially integrated. A goal of this nature requires long-term partnerships and a common vision, which is why we are delighted to see Penny join AVE in the endeavour to transform schools in Romania”, stated Andreea Nistor, AVE Chief Executive Officer.

“We want to support the communities where we conduct our activity and, for that reason, we do every year our part in implementing the programmes that support the development of children and youth. Children, education, the communities’ support – these are the main pillars we focus on in our CSR activity. The Programme for the Transformation of Schools in Romania is unique and we realised that from the very first moments.

The programme’s approach is truly special – AVE works directly with headmasters and teachers from schools to find tailored solutions for each school enrolled in the programme. As such, the students enjoy educational opportunities, new development outlooks and a learning framework pointing towards innovation. The choice to work with AVE was not a casual one: we all know how important education is, and the students in our country need role models to follow. We are glad that we can be part of this genuinely daring story!”, said Dan Crișan – COO PENNY | REWE Romania.

The Programme for the Transformation of Schools in Romania is aimed at all the schooling facilities throughout urban and rural areas and integrates, under a single transformation journey, the experience from the Edu Networks, The Leadership Academy and HumanKind programmes. The Transformation Programme’s mission is to assist schools in transformative and learning processes across three pillars: skills development for teachers and headmasters, setting up support and collaboration relationships, as well as steady assessment of progress.
